The Difference between Today and Yesteryear

One year ago... I had no idea what to expect when I was expecting.
- I read books.
- I searched blogs.
- I used Babycenter.com like a bible.
- I read my bible.
- I watched horrific birthing videos.

Seven months ago... I had no idea what I had gotten myself into.
- I read more books.
- I found new blogs.
- I still use Babycenter.com like a bible.
- I read my bible... on my phone with a baby eating/sleeping/playing in my arms.
- I remember our birth story (thankfully no videos were taken).

Today I... still have no clue what I am doing most days.
- I woke up to a smiling, cooing baby kicking away happily in her pack and play in the basement where we slept to escape the boiling heat.
- I watched her examine a new toy and test out its whirly gigs, twirly knobs and spinning blocks.
- I fed her cereal which she enjoyed smashing all over her face.
- I fought like hell to get her to take a nap and finally gave up and put her in her swing.
- I turned around for just a second and when I looked back she was fast asleep.

- I read my bible and the verse for the day is:

1 John 4:17-19
New International Version (NIV)
17 This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. 18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.
19 We love because he first loved us.

The Difference between Today and Yesteryear is more than just routines and habits.
- Yes I shower quicker and less often.
- I eat while feeding a little monkey.
- I watch more cartoons than grownup TV.
- I use my iPhone as a baby entertainment device more often than I care to admit.
- I sleep when she sleeps and sometimes that means sacrificing laundry, chores and blogging/facebook.

BUT....
- I love more.
- I live better than before and eat healthier and take long walks.
- I appreciate things I had forgotten from my childhood.
- I am learning who I am through the eyes of my daughter.

1 John 4:17-21
New Living Translation (NLT)
17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.
18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. 19 We love each other because he loved us first.

This is the new love I feel in my heart.
